Anxiety Therapy

In-person Boulder + online throughout Colorado

I’m Joe.

Anxiety has a way of making even the simplest things feel overwhelming. It can show up as racing thoughts, a tight chest, trouble sleeping, or the feeling that you need to be “on” all the time. Sometimes, it’s subtle—just a background hum of unease. Other times, it’s all-consuming. Either way, it’s exhausting.

I help people untangle their relationship with anxiety, moving from feeling stuck in constant stress to finding more ease and clarity. My approach is rooted in mindfulness, body-based techniques, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), all designed to help you reconnect with yourself in a way that feels safe and manageable. Together, we’ll explore what’s driving your anxiety, how it’s trying to protect you, and how to work with it rather than against it.

Therapy isn’t about getting rid of anxiety altogether (as nice as that would be). Instead, it’s about shifting how you relate to it—so it doesn’t get the final say in how you live your life.

If you’re ready to take a breath and see what life feels like with a little more space, I’d love to help.

Self-Sabotage Group Therapy

Ever feel like you’re working against yourself, even when you want things to go well? Self-sabotage isn’t about lack of willpower—it’s often a deep, protective pattern that once served a purpose but now just keeps you stuck. In this group, we’ll explore why these patterns show up, how to shift them with curiosity instead of shame, and what it feels like to actually support yourself instead of standing in your own way. If you’re ready to break the cycle and move toward something better, we’re in this together.

What does anxiety therapy look like?

Anxiety therapy isn’t about eliminating worry altogether (if only it were that easy). Instead, it’s about shifting how you relate to it—so it no longer runs the show. Together, we’ll slow things down, get curious about what your anxiety is trying to do for you, and develop tools to help you feel more grounded and in control.

Sessions might include mindfulness practices to quiet racing thoughts, body-based techniques to ease physical tension, or Internal Family Systems (IFS) work to understand the different parts of you that feel overwhelmed. We’ll also explore practical strategies—things you can actually use in daily life—to make anxiety feel less like an uninvited guest taking over the room and more like background noise you can turn down.

But therapy isn’t just about strategies. It’s also about understanding where your anxiety comes from, how it’s been shaped by past experiences, and why it feels so difficult to shake—even when you know it’s not helping. Anxiety isn’t random; it has a function, and a big part of healing is figuring out what it’s been trying (and maybe failing) to do for you all this time.

Maybe your anxiety shows up as relentless self-doubt, making even simple decisions feel impossible. Maybe it keeps you on high alert, always bracing for the next worst-case scenario. Or maybe it’s more of a subtle, constant hum—one you’ve learned to live with but would love to turn down. Whatever form it takes, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Therapy is a space where you can exhale, where you don’t have to explain away or justify your feelings. Over time, we’ll work together to help you untangle old patterns, reconnect with yourself in a way that feels safe, and move through life with more ease. If anxiety has been steering for a while, think of this as the process of gently (but firmly) taking back the wheel.
